Message to all students from VP, Academic & Student Affairs - September 23, 2022
From Barbara Kelly - Vice President, Academic/Student Affairs/Human Resources and Research
Thank you for choosing Conestoga. I hope that your Fall 2022 semester is off to a good start, and that you're finding your studies engaging and rewarding.
Over the last few weeks, we've been hearing from students who have questions about the college's attendance requirements and what they should do if they are feeling unwell, have tested positive or have been exposed to COVID-19.
It's widely expected that cases of COVID-19 and influenza will increase this fall as the weather becomes cooler and people spend more time indoors. Wearing a tight-fitting, multi-layer mask in public spaces and staying up-to-date on vaccinations are your best defenses against contracting or spreading illness.
If you are experiencing symptoms or otherwise feeling unwell, please do not come to campus. Ontario's online COVID-19 self-assessment tool can provide advice on what you should do and whether you are required to self-isolate.
Please inform your instructors as soon as possible if you are feeling unwell or need to self-isolate and will miss classes, due dates or assessments as a result. Record any absences on the Student Portal.
You will not be required to provide medical notes or documentation as proof of illness.
Alternate arrangements for covering missed course materials or assignments should be discussed directly with your course instructors.
If your absence will be for an extended period, please contact your program coordinator.
We understand that these are challenging times. We ask that you remain flexible and understanding, and extend your support to others in your classes and across our community who may be struggling.
Your success and well-being are important to us. Please reach out to our Student Success team, your course instructors or program coordinators if you have questions or require assistance.
Stay safe and well, and have a great Fall 2022.
Barbara Kelly
Vice President, Academic/Student Affairs/Human Resources and Research
